Advanced Weekend Workshops
It is required that you first take the non-advanced Picture Perfect Weekend Workshop with Todd and Brad Reed at the Cartier Mansion before you can sign up for the Advanced Weekend Workshops.
The workshop will begin on Friday evening with a review of technical aspects of shooting on full manual as well as a review of the 20/20 Vision material for building stronger photo composition. This workshop will involve much more shooting time in the field than in the Picture Perfect Weekend Workshop. Some of this shooting will be on your own and some will be demonstrations led by Todd and Brad Reed. This workshop will also involve learning the basics of Adobe Photoshop, digital work flow, and file optimization by Greg Dunn and Brad Reed. On Sunday, there will be a review of images taken during the morning and evening shoots on Saturday as well as a demonstration of some of the Photoshop techniques learned on Saturday with select workshop participant’s photos. As with the Picture Perfect Weekend Workshops, all ages and abilities are welcomed. Any digital camera is accepted, just bring your camera manual.

What to Bring:
o A digital camera and its instruction manual.
o It is preferred (but not required) that you have a way to edit your work down to your ten best digital files and put them on a thumb drive or burn them to a disk to hand in on Sunday morning. (A laptop would be great with a thumb drive or some blank CDs)
o Bring lots of batteries for your own kind of camera and your battery charger. Remember that cool evenings on Lake Michigan can eat up battery life.
o A sturdy tripod that works well with your own camera and has a quick release plate or bracket would be strongly advised.
o Dress for the elements. It can get pretty cool on Lake Michigan, even during the summer.
o Good hiking shoes for walking in the sand and on the waters edge are recommended for people who get cold feet. Waterproof boots are recommended or a change of shoes if they get wet while out in the field.
o A good hat that you can put in your pocket and take out in case you need to protect yourself from the winds coming off of Lake Michigan.
o We also recommend bringing gloves that are easy to take on and off while you are taking pictures.
o You never know what the weather will be like on the shores of Lake Michigan. Hopefully it will be warm and beautiful, but if not, it is worth it to be prepared. We shoot in almost any weather and the best shots usually come during storms!

Saturday evening after dinner is done we ask every student to pick ten images that will be projected on Sunday morning. If you have a laptop to download your images onto and can put the ten chosen images onto a disk or thumb drive that is preferred. You can turn your disk or thumb drive in on Sunday morning to Brad by 8am.
If you don’t have a way to download your images Saturday night on your own then we ask you to write down on a piece of paper (with your name on it) the 4 digit file number that you can find on the back of your camera when viewing the image on your LCD screen of your digital camera and then turn that in with your media card (compact flash, SD, etc.) on Sunday morning by 8am
6:45am - 7:45am - Optional photo shoot down at the end of Ludington Avenue. Note: None of these photos will be viewed later during the slide show and group critique.
8am - 9am - Everyone eats breakfast together at the Mansion.
9am - 12pm - Slide show of every student’s top ten images. This will be a large group critique and we will give constructive criticism and praise on many of the images. We will break down the images with the 20/20 Vision Concepts as well as discuss the technical aspects of the image. We will also work up a few of these images in Photoshop as a review from Saturday.
Done by NOON so you can get back home at a reasonable time : )
