"Sunrise at Big Sable" -Todd Reed
My Grandma Benson was fond of saying, "The early bird gets the worm." On the morning of Jan. 3, 2007, I caught a different worm than I had set out to catch. My son Brad and I pedaled bicycles through the darkness, expecting to get to Big Point Sable Lighthouse in time to catch the full moon setting into Lake Michigan behind the light tower. Instead we reached the light just in time to watch the giant ball of moonlight drop into the clouds and disappear. Disappointment turned to excitement when the rising sun began reflecting off the same clouds, bathing the sky and the beach in warm colors. As an outdoor photographer, you previsualize and plan shots. But you also learn to be ready to change your plans according to what God actually presents.

"Delite's Delights" -Brad Reed
My Great Grandma, Martha Delite Benson, always had a passion for finding small treasures outside. Many beautiful objects that most people would pass by, she seemed to gravitate towards. I believe her ability to "go deeper" into the scene and find the less obvious beauty in nature was passed down to my dad and I. As I photographed this delicate Starflower at the Ludington State Park in June of 2006, I could not help but grin and think of my Great Grandma Benson.
