Pictures of the Month (01.2009)

"Crowning Touch" - Todd Reed
Fresh snow atop the gold crown of an old gasoline pump was the crowning touch to a winter picture of Cherry Hill Farm I had envisioned for weeks and finally appeared before my eyes. Roger and Marcia Hansen restored the magnificent barn on Conrad Road between Ludington and Scottville just in time for the tour of Conrad Road barns held in the fall of 2008. Now all passersby have the opportunity to appreciate its beauty in all seasons. [ Purchase This Photo ]

"King of the Ranch" - Brad Reed
While driving down Conrad Road on a snowy December day in 2008, my dad and I noticed an unusually large American Elk laying in the sunshine at the Amber Elk Ranch. As I got our biggest lens out and mounted it on its tripod, my dad was busy making ÒelkÓ noises and waving his hands so that he could get the attention of the large animal. To our delight, the bull stood up and walked towards us. Luckily for me, the elk got distracted by a female and turned sideways to the camera. Later, we learned the elkÕs name is Yoda and he has won the international antler competition two different years with a high score of 493. [ Purchase This Photo ]
