Todd and Brad Reed Announce Transition Plans for Downtown Ludington Gallery
LUDINGTON, MICHIGAN — After 26 years of serving visitors, collectors, and photography enthusiasts from their downtown Ludington gallery, father and son photographers Todd and Brad Reed have announced plans to close their current gallery location on October 31, 2026.
The Reeds emphasize that this is not the end of their photography work or creative endeavors, but rather a transition into a new phase that better reflects today’s changing marketplace and their future goals.
“We are not going out of business,” said Todd and Brad Reed. “The photography market has changed dramatically over the years, and we believe this is the right time to adapt and move forward in a different way.”
Part of the decision was influenced by the recent passing of the owner of the gallery building. Since the Reeds do not own the building, they have chosen not to purchase the property and instead use this opportunity to restructure their business model.
While the downtown gallery will close, the Reeds plan to remain active in several areas of photography and education. They intend to continue teaching photography workshops at the Hamlin Lake home of Carole and Jim Smith at least three times each year. Future photography shooting projects and possible future book projects are also being planned.
In addition, the Reeds are exploring a simplified online sales model in which a third-party company would print, sell, and ship a curated selection of their work through a website. Under the proposed arrangement, the fulfillment company would handle customer orders, payments, printing, and shipping.
As part of the transition, the Reeds will begin selling selected gallery fixtures and equipment throughout 2026. Beginning May 29, 2026, they plan to offer book racks, display racks, desks, and other gallery furnishings for sale, with pickup dates scheduled between October 25th and October 30th, 2026.
Following their final art fair on July 6, 2026, they also plan to sell most of their art fair equipment, including large display tents, screens, weights, and related materials. However, they will retain both of their art fair trailers.
The Reeds also announced that BestLookingPrints.com is expected to permanently close on August 15th, 2026. Their e-magazine, The Photographer’s Reed, will be placed on hold at the end of 2026.
Additionally, both of their large-format Epson printers are expected to be offered for sale beginning October 1, 2026, with pickup to occur by October 25th, 2026. If you are interested in those, please email Todd and Brad at info@toddandbradreed.com
All outstanding gift certificates must be redeemed in person or online at ToddandBradReed.com by August 1st, 2026. The last day to order canvases that are hand signed and metal prints with electronic signatures is August 15th, 2026. The last retail day at the gallery to buy any remaining in-stock photography items is Saturday, October 24th.
“We are incredibly grateful for the support this community and our customers have shown us over the years,” Brad Reed said. “This gallery has been a major part of our lives, and while this chapter is ending, we are excited about the opportunities ahead and look forward to continuing to share photography in new ways.”
“We are blessed to have lived in Ludington all of our lives and are grateful that we have had the opportunity to showcase and promote the beauty of Ludington and surrounding area, as well as the great state of Michigan, with our artwork and that of Rachel Gaudette,” Todd Reed said. “We will strive to continue to capture “magic moments” with our cameras and share them with the world.”
